At the point of penning this (December 2014), I have just cleared my Final Theory Test recently and I am schedule to get my Class 3 license
(Manual) next year (January 2015).
This process is fairly simple,
and I spent lots of time researching to figure out:
1. What driving license
should I take?
2. The most economically (not cheapest but value for your money) route to get my Singapore driving
license
3. Things to avoid by doing this
4. Changing of various private instructors (not all
were good) until I settled for a good one.
And oh boy, if you don't simply want to throw money (more expensive) with the driving school, You should try the path I've taken.
For this website, I look forward
to sharing my experience with you and I hope your journey will be less of a challenge compared to what I experienced. We endeavor to provide the best match for you in attempting to find your private driving instructor and elearning support
for your Basic Theory Test (BTT) and Final Theory Test (FTT).
Things to cover / learn in Basic Theory Test / Exam?
We strongly recommend you purchase the Basic Theory of Driving - The Official Handbook from the school ( it comes as a package with the Final Theory Test handbook) when you book for your Basic Theory Test.
Areas:
Introduction to driving (in Singapore), different classes of driving licenses
Singapore Road Signs and Signals (you literally really need to memorise each one of these)
Singapore Traffic Rules and Regulations (again just pure memorisation)
Code of Conduct on the road
Parts and Control of A Car (Basic)
And other nitty gritty details which we will not cover here.
As you clear your Basic Theory Test (you'll get your results straight away with a print out), your Basic Theory Test “Pass Results” stays with you for life.
This means, you may proceed to do the next 2 steps (together if you want)
1. Obtain a Provisional Driving License (PDL) - this allows you to learn practical lessons on the roads with a certified driving instructor. Without this PDL, you cannot book for your driving lessons
2. Book your Final Theory Test date. You definitely need to clear your Basic Theory Test Date before booking for your Final Theory Test Date.
We will facilitate you to clear your Basic Theory Test (BTT) easily.
The Final Theory Test is really a lot trickier than the Basic Theory Test meaning basic theory test that you will be expected to know how a manual car work (clutch, brakes and accelerator) together with the different gears.
Even if you're opting for the auto car license (Class 3A), you have to clear the same Final Theory Test taken by Class 3 students (Manual and Auto).
Tips:
We actually feel it’s better for you to attend at least 1 to 2 practical lessons with a manual or auto car FIRST prior to taking the FTT. It's going to give you a greater appreciation of the use of the clutch-brake-accelerator combination together with the gear. A great deal of questions in the FTT covers this.
Take note of how the FTT focuses on drink driving. Applies plenty of common sense and you can clear a lot of such questions. Essentially do NOT drink and drive!
Areas covered in the Final Theory Test:
Introduction - safe driving
Operation of vehicle controls. This covers the different fuctions on clutch, brake, accelerator and gears for instance.
Basic Driving Techniques covering different safety aspects of driving.
Techniques in driving in traffic. Driving uphill and downhide as well as other details on navigating the traffic.

Our instinct (specifically shopping instinct) tells us to get the cheapest option available in many instances. This is actually a really contrarian thought. Naturally everyone out there wants the cheapest option. Don't forget this, price is whatever you pay, value is exactly what you receive. If you compare prices without btt test factoring the worthiness you end up with, the comparision is completely meaningless. In order to compare apple to apple, we've got to take into consideration customer services costs because this comes as a cost to the company providing it. Putting it simple, if you would like insurance for your purchase in the form of consumer support for your services - you have to pay a bit extra.
